European Support to Roma Inclusion
A set of six short films illustrating the activities of the European Support to Roma Inclusion, EU funded project implemented by the OSCE Mission to Serbia. The project focuses on the following areas: access to basic rights, civic participation, education, health and social care, adequate housing and creation of new jobs.
- Capacity building of civil society organizations31 Civil Society Organizations and 4 networks focused on Roma integration participated in the capacity building programme. CSOs receive mentorship assistance, and support for their active participation in the development and implementation of local policies for Roma.Video Clip
- Mobile Teams for Roma InclusionMobile Teams for Roma Inclusion have been established with the help of the project in 20 pilot municipalities / cities. The teams comprise municipal coordinators for Roma issues, pedagogical assistants, health mediators, as well as representatives of the Centres for Social Work and the National Employment Service.Video Clip
- School dropout prevention programmeWithin dropout prevention programme, 1,000 scholarships were provided for Roma secondary school students, who also received mentoring and peer support. Training and certification of 191 pedagogical assistants were supported through the project, along with the training for 208 mentors. This Video is not available in English.Video Clip
- Improving housing conditionsAn important part of the European Support to Roma Inclusion project is the improvement of housing conditions. Urban plans have been developed for 13 substandard settlements in 11 municipalities, and technical documentation for 15 infrastructure projects is being prepared in 14 municipalities. Based on the mapping of 583 sub-standard Roma settlements in Serbia, Geographic information system (GIS) was established to enable monitoring and improvement of Roma housing conditions.This Video is not available in English.Video Clip
- Sustainable employmentIn order to create new employment opportunities for Roma, selected companies that have the potential for employing Roma, and Roma entrepreneurs, were provided support in equipment, as well as through mentoring and training.
