OSCE launches E-learning course to raise awareness on how the internet is used for terrorist purposes
A web-based learning course designed to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding on how terrorists use the internet was launched by the Action against Terrorism Unit of the OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department on 22 September 2017. The course targets decision makers, government officials, academia, teachers and students in police academies and other similar educational institutions to enhance their skills in countering terrorism.
The E-learning course on ‘Countering the Use of the Internet for Terrorist Purposes’ educates users on how the internet is a key strategic device and tactical facilitator in the hands of terrorists, who go online to identify, recruit and train new members, collect and transfer funds, organize attacks and incite violence.
The course contains reading material, audio-visual samples, case studies and relevant realistic examples as well as short quizzes that test the beneficiaries’ knowledge throughout the course.
Those interested in taking the course can register on the OSCE’s POLIS E-learning platform and enrol free-of-charge.
The course was developed under an extra-budgetary programme and made possible by the contributions of Austria, Luxembourg and Spain.
