Western European youth on preventing violent extremism
4 May 2017
They have seen the toll of violent extremism on their peers and communities. They know what it is from first-hand experiences, not from the newspapers, not from policy-makers. Moad, Stefan, Sabra and Mina are among 16 youth representatives, activists, volunteers and young professionals from Western Europe, who came to the OSCE to share how young people understand and work to prevent and counter this threat.
The “Youth and the Prevention of Violent Extremism” workshop on Western European Perspectives was organized by the Permanent Mission of Austria to the OSCE on 4 October 2016 in Vienna. The participants developed recommendations for governments, which were presented by one of them to the OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation at the 2016 OSCE Mediterranean Conference on 5 October.
This workshop was and held under the umbrella of the “OSCE United in Countering Violent Extremism (#UnitedCVE)” campaign;. Watch more #UnitedCVE stories from the Black Sea region and Western Balkans
