Security Days: Approaches to Conflict Resolution in the OSCE Area
When
16 September 2013 (All day)
Where
Hofburg Conference Centre, Vienna
Organized by
OSCE Secretary General
The Security Days event focused on conflict resolution. It was designed to bring new thinking to the table and gathered together experts from a range of different countries and specialisations. It looked at both theory and practice, at existing practice and potential new ways to solve conflict, at the role of regional and multilateral organisations and how to sustain and consolidate peaceful societies.
One of the OSCE's key missions – conflict resolution – was the focus of the fourth Security Day event of 2013, held at the Hofburg, Vienna on 16 September.
From its origins in the Cold War, to its emerging future role, the OSCE is the standard bearer in finding lasting solutions to conflict. In the run-up to the 40th anniversary in 2015, its 57 participating states were focused on how to spot the symptoms of conflict, what methods to use to diffuse tension, and how to create lasting peace in the OSCE’s geographical area.
