    This video explains the urgent need to step up efforts to tackle threats, harassment and intimidation of journalists online. The video is part of the Office's of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media online campaign, in close cooperation with International Press Institute (IPI).

  • Arzu Geybullayeva, freelance journalist (#SOFJO)
    Starting in 2014, Arzu Geybullayeva has been the target of an extensive online abuse campaign including dozens of death and rape threats. She reclaimed her power online by documenting and tracking down the users responsible for the harassment. Despite continued daily online harassment, she has made a name for herself as a champion for media freedom, speaking openly and loudly against online and physical intimidation of journalists in her native Azerbaijan, throughout the OSCE region and beyond.     Nani Jansen Reventlow is a human rights lawyer specialized in strategic litigation and freedom of expression. As the Director of the Digital Freedom Fund, she helps to support partners in Europe to advance digital rights through strategic litigation. She participated as one of the trainers in the OSCE RFoM Safety of Female Journalists Online project.

  • Manon Muti and Holly Davis (#SOFJO)
    This video, part of the OSCE RFoM Safety of Female Journalists Online project, features Manon Muti and Holly Davis. Women who face online harassment have little recourse when it comes to reporting, receiving support or legal redress. At best, they are encouraged to ignore the abuse and turn off the computer and at worst are blamed for the abuse or for undermining others’ free speech. What’s more, with technology constantly changing, the way in which women are attacked is also constantly changing.

    Dr. Michelle Ferrier is a pioneer in digital content and online education communities as well as research around online communities, online education, digital identity and reputation management and media entrepreneurship. Ferrier is the founder and creator of TrollBusters, a just-in-time rescue service for women writers and women journalists. She participated as trainer in a workshop in OSCE RFoM's project Safety of Female Journalists Online (#SOFJO).
