18th Central Asia Media Conference - Multi-faceted challenges to media freedom in Central Asia

The 18th regional Central Asia media conference titled "Multi-faceted challenges to media freedom in Central Asia" will be held in Vienna on 13-14 December 2016.
During the two-day event, some 60 participants, including government authorities, the media, academics and international experts, will participate in discussions on the challenges that media freedom in Central Asia face today.
The discussions will focus on issues like legal and policy responses to counter violent extremism (CVE) and hate speech online, propaganda and hatred in the media, and challenges and solutions for digital broadcasting in the region. The latest media freedom developments in Central Asia will also be discussed. Representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia are expected to participate in the event.
The working languages will be English and Russian with simultaneous interpretation. Follow the discussions on Twitter using the hashtag #CAMC16.
