OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan starts professional training courses for female managers

A series of OSCE-supported professional managerial training courses for women organized by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (PCUz) were launched on 3 July 2017 in an opening ceremony at the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).

The weekly training courses, designed for both beginner and experienced managers and covering topics including strategic management, financial management, marketing and human resources management, will increase the capacity of 150 selected female managers across the country. Upon completion of the training courses, the best attendees will be offered professional internships in companies in Europe.  Fifty people participated in the first course.

“The OSCE is working tirelessly on women’s economic empowerment as one of the key ways to address poverty, education and gender equality, especially in rural areas. We believe that women in Uzbekistan are in a position to contribute to economic development and the promotion of good governance,” said Juergen Becker, Senior Project Officer to the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan. “Therefore increasing women’s roles not only in public life, but also in private businesses is a key objective of this joint project.”

The PCUz project is being implemented in co-operation with the Business Women Association (BWA) and the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), which in accordance with the agreement with PCUz is delivering the training courses at the university. The project is organized within the framework of the extra-budgetary project “Support to managerial capacity building of female managers”, with financial support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Federal Republic of Germany.
