As decentralization changes the administrative landscape of the country, local communities receive more resources and responsibilities for their own well-being. In such conditions, the role and importance of local media, economically independent and able to inform citizens impartially about all aspects of local life, is growing.
These Recommendations for local and regional media were prepared based on a comprehensive study of the processes taking place in editorial offices, as well as factors influencing the success and challenges in the interaction of communities and local media in the decentralization process.
Experts, engaged by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine conducted a survey among local media editors and communication experts in October 2020.
Drawing conclusions from the study, the experts focused on current problems and best practices and potential ways for effective interaction between business, community, government, and the media.
