The event will sum up three years of the OSCE assistance to Ukraine in strengthening the country’s chemical safety and security. These efforts were aimed to support National authorities in implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540 (2004) on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.
End of February envisages completion of three projects implemented by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine with the financial support of the European Union and the United States of America in close co-operation with the Forum for Security Co-operation Support Section of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre and Ukrainian national stakeholders. Those projects include:
- “Establishing Ukrainian National Reference Centre to identify controlled and toxic chemicals”;
- “Improving Ukraine’s Regulatory System on Chemical Safety and Security”;
- “Strengthening controls over cross-boundary movement of controlled and toxic chemicals”.
