The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan is pleased to announce organization of the event in lieu of the "16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence in Kazakhstan" the International Online Conference entitled “Preventing Gender Based Violence against Women and Strengthening Women's Access to Justice” (the Conference) scheduled to take place on 26 November 2020 in online format.
The conference is jointly organized by the National Commission of Women, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (National Commission), OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan, UN Women, UNFPA and Ne Molchi Public Fund. OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan provided full financial, logistical and organizational support to the event.
The participants of the conference will include the members of the National Commission, representatives of the central state bodies, international organizations and embassies, employees of the regional Commissions of Women, Family and Demographic Policy, heads of the crisis centres, international experts, NGO activists and media.
The conference aims to serve as a platform of discussion about how to prevent domestic violence in the country , assess the interagency response to domestic violence, effectiveness of the measures in prevention and combat of violence against women but also to assess the state of affairs of the current legislation provisions and assess the response to growing rate of domestic violence cases during the Covid-19 pandemic.
