The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan and the NGO Legal Media Centre jointly organized the online discussion on access to information for some 35 participants from government bodies, academia, civil society and media-related NGOs. The Legal Media Centre provided participants with an overview of the national legislation on access to information, different categories of information classification, protection of the right for access to information and transparency, and accountability issues. A national expert presented the legal analysis of the legislative acts regulating the information for official use (restricted information). Participants also discussed issues of information accessibility regarding budget expenses, procedures governing the release of official information held by different government agencies, and participation of civil society in the legislative process regulating the access to information.
