Tajikistan enhances Explosive Ordnance Disposal capabilities
A two-week Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Level 1-2 training course for 14 officers from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense and Border Troops was completed on 15 March 2025 in Gharm, Tajikistan. The course, aimed at enhancing practical skills and knowledge, was jointly conducted by training officers from the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre under Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense.
The training program equipped participants with essential EOD skills and knowledge, adhering to international standards. Participants received instruction in key areas such as explosives theory, EOD safety protocols, and effective disposal methods. A significant component of the course involved practical exercises. These exercises provided hands-on experience in basic EOD procedures, including hazard recognition, identification of explosive ordnance, and safe demarcation of hazardous areas.
This initiative strengthens Tajikistan’s capacity to respond to explosive threats effectively. It also demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting peace, regional security, and international co-operation in the crucial area of explosive hazards reduction. The co-operation between the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Regional Explosive Hazards Training Centre exemplifies the importance of partnerships in building national capacity and fostering a safer environment.
