OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supports a Tajik delegation from the Ministry of Interior on a study visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina
The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe supported a delegation from the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Tajikistan, consisting of eight mid and senior-level leadership officers, during a study visit to law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1 to 7 July 2024. The visit was organized in co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior, and the Federal Ministry of Interior of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The purpose of the study visit was to allow the Tajik Ministry of Interior's representatives to observe and learn from the challenges and practical solutions implemented by law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of police reform. The Tajik delegation aimed to enhance its understanding of the development and implementation of the Law on Police and Internal Affairs and the implementation of the OSCE Guidelines for Intelligence-Led Policing in Bosnia and Herzegovina's internal affairs bodies.
General Safialo Azizullozoda, the head of the Tajik delegation and the National Coordinator of the Ministry of Interior on Police Reform, expressed gratitude for the organized study visit and the productive working meetings with senior and mid-level leadership of the law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasized the value of learning about the transformation from traditional militia to modern community-oriented and intelligence-led police services. Additionally, the delegation was highly interested in acquiring best practices related to community policing and intelligence-led policing concepts from their Bosnian and Herzegovinian colleagues.
During their visit, the Tajik delegation met with various officials from the Republic of Srpska Ministry of Interior and the Federal Ministry of Interior of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and also toured several organizational units to gain an understanding of the competencies, operations, command structure, and capacities of the police services.
