OSCE supports training of the Regional Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defence in Khujand
On 25-27 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (Office) supported the Republican Training and Methodological Centre (RTMC) of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defence (CoESCD) in the organization of a training in Khujand city.
The event brought together twenty participants, including CoESCD branch heads and instructors from various districts in the Sughd region. The training was led by RTMC Head Colonel Safarbek Avaz and is based on the updated curriculum that was published with the Office’s support. Participants were able to refresh their knowledge of RTMC’s updated curriculum and methodological guidance in civil defence. The Office anticipates that this refresher course will increase the capacity of instructors and regional training management staff to upskill civil defence management and commanding personnel.
The Office will replicate this training in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and Khatlon region in 2023 in line with the strategic goals of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and Tajikistan’s Mid-term State Programme for the Protection of Population and Territories from Emergency Situations for 2023-2028.
