OSCE trains youth to prevent domestic violence
From 17 to 19 October 2023, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (the Office) organized a three-day training of trainers on domestic violence issues. The training brought together 17 young people (six men and 11 women) from Dushanbe and the regions of Tajikistan.
During the training, the participants improved their understanding of gender equality, the gender stereotypes that may lead to gender-based violence, including domestic violence, the signs and forms of domestic violence, and learned peer-to-peer teaching methods. They also got acquainted with the necessary measures to prevent gender-based violence and protect victims, including support services for survivors.
The training course aimed at preparing future young trainers who will be supported by the Office to carry out seminars to raise awareness of, and thus prevent gender-based violence among youth. This initiative is part of OSCE’s broader efforts to empower youth and engage them in activities that prevent violence against women and girls in Tajikistan.
