OSCE supports study visit to Paris for Tajik women politicians
5 July 2018
A high-level study visit from 11 to15 June 2018 to Paris was jointly organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, in co-operation with the Embassy of France in Dushanbe and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A group of eleven women including the Vice Speaker of the Tajik Parliament, two female MPs, the Special Assistant to the Vice Speaker and seven women politicians representing all seven registered political parties in Tajikistan took part in the visit.
The purpose of the study visit was to learn the French experience on gender equality and gender parity from high-level French officials and French prominent gender experts. The visit allowed to establish networks and links between two Parliaments and between Tajik women politicians and their French colleagues.
Concrete proposals were made for future co-operation on topics including advancement of Tajik women in political and public life, their representation in diplomacy, countering violence against women and domestic violence. The French Ambassador to Tajikistan, H.E. Yasmine Gouedard, took part in the first day of the visit.
