OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe trains young people on women’s participation in peace processes and negotiations
Some 25 young people representing the youth wings of Tajikistan’s political parties and civil society groups completed a one-day training course on 27 July 2017, focusing on women’s participation in peace processes and negotiations. The course was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
There was a special focus on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Women, Peace and Security agenda. The participants were informed about the provisions of Tajikistan’s National Action Plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and discussed how the inclusion of women can be supported across all stages of the peace process, peace-building and peacekeeping.
“Women are direct and indirect victims of conflict,” said Vesna Ivanovikj-Castarede, the Gender and Anti-Trafficking Officer at the OSCE Programme Office and the trainer. “They are also at the forefront of driving reform, and they should play an influential role in post-conflict settings so that their voices and opinions are heard.”
