OSCE Office in Tajikistan supports workshop for young journalists and journalism students
The OSCE Office in Tajikistan held an interactive workshop for 15 young journalists and students of journalism from the Khatlon region and Dushanbe in its central office in the capital on 28 and 29 June 2017.
Professor Qironshoh Sharifzoda, from the National University of Tajikistan in Dushanbe and experienced journalists from the BBC World Service familiarized young journalists with the theoretical and practical aspects of their work, such as the creation and dissemination of information via print media, radio and television as well as blogs, social networks and user-generated content. The legal framework and media self-regulation were also discussed at the workshop.
Farrukhsho Dzhunaydov, National Media Officer at the OSCE Office in Tajikistan said: “By organizing and conducting this workshop, the OSCE Office in Tajikistan is contributing to the implementation of OSCE principles and commitments in the field of media in the host country.”
The participants also discussed technical skills, working with journalism tools as well as journalism genres, sources of information, ways of obtaining information and data, writing skills and handling quotes.
During the training course, participants were divided into groups and tasked with completing a variety of journalistic assignments. The results were presented in an open session at the end of the workshop and evaluated by the participants and the trainers.
