Recruitment for elections in Georgia

In response to an invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia to observe the upcoming municipal elections expected to be held on 30 May 2010, and based on the findings and conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission deployed to Georgia from 17 to 19 February 2010, the OSCE/ODIHR has decided to deploy an Election Observation Mission (EOM). In this respect, the OSCE/ODIHR is currently looking for external consultants to fill the following positions in the core team:
- Head of Mission
- Deputy Head of Mission
- Political Analyst
- Election Analyst
- Legal Analyst
- Media Analyst
- Co-ordinator of Long-Term Observers
- Gender Analyst
Procedure
All assignments are temporarily recruited posts and most of them will be for approximately seven to nine weeks. Given the legal possibility of a second round contest, applicants should be aware that their stay may be extended. Candidates should be available from mid-April and must be available to depart at short notice. Candidates must be citizens of OSCE participating States, excluding citizens of Georgia. For more information about the responsibilities and requirements of each post, please read the terms of reference in the "Overview of Core Team Positions", under the links to the right. Please complete the following steps in order to apply:
1. Register in the OSCE/ODIHR's election experts database. If you have already registered, please move on to the next steps.
2. Send an email to georgia-eom@odihr.pl indicating the position for which you are applying. Please note that you can apply for a maximum of two core team positions.
3. Attach a motivation letter and a completed application form or recent Curriculum Vitae.
The deadline for applications is 18.00 CET on Friday, 19 March 2010. Applications received after this date, as well as applicants who have not registered in the OSCE/ODIHR election expert database and who do not attach all required documents, will not be considered. Only selected candidates will be contacted. The OSCE is an equal opportunity organization and encourages applications from female candidates and representatives of national minorities.
Remuneration will depend on qualifications and experience, and will be in accordance with established OSCE rates. Travel expenses will be covered by the OSCE/ODIHR in accordance with the OSCE travel policy.
Long-term and short-term observers
OSCE participating States will also be requested to second long-term and short-term observers. Should you wish to become a long-term or a short-term observer, please contact your respective OSCE delegation in Vienna or your Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
