Many decisions that affect everyday life are made by locally elected bodies. Yet, despite efforts to support greater women’s participation and leadership at the local level, women remain under-represented in local decision-making across the OSCE region.
The Grodno Forum of Women Leaders aims to address women’s leadership at the local level. It will promote success stories of women and provide an opportunity for exchanging examples of good practice among women leaders from Belarus and the OSCE region on topics such as advancing political participation of women at the local level, the work/life balance and the role of universities in shaping future generation of young women leaders.
The Forum will bring together 60 to 80 high-achieving women and men from different spheres – local politicians, civil servants, academics, journalists, civil society representatives, activists and international organizations' representatives from the OSCE region. The event is part of the ODIHR project Promoting Democratization and Human Rights in Belarus, funded by the European Union.
