On 10 July, the OSCE launched the second edition of the Central Asian Women in Renewable Energy Mentoring Programme. This initiative not only empowers women as agents of change in the energy sector but also strengthens regional security by promoting sustainable development and energy resilience.
Building on the success of the first edition, which supported 30 women from Central Asian countries in 2022-2023, the programme continues to address the gender gap and advance sustainable development. It aims to enhance the positions of mid-career women in energy transition, equipping them with the skills needed to become catalysts for sustainable change and regional stability.
This year's edition also welcomes 30 mentees, selected through a competitive process, who will be paired with experienced mentors based on their aspirations. From July 2024 to March 2025, these bilateral exchanges will provide tailored guidance and support. Additionally, the programme will offer a series of knowledge-transfer sessions on energy and personal development topics, and a study tour in Vienna.
“We can't have a Just Energy Transition without women. This program helps Central Asian women break down barriers, become leaders in renewable energy, and create positive change for themselves and future generations”, said Giulia Manconi, Project Manager and Senior Energy Security Adviser.
This mentoring programme is part of the OSCE project on Promoting women’s economic empowerment in the energy sector for energy security and sustainability in Central Asia, implemented in partnership with the Global Women’s Network for the Energy Transition (GWNET), and co-financed by Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Norway and Poland.
