OSCE Mission to Montenegro supports training on women’s economic empowerment
The OSCE Mission to Montenegro on 11 June 2014 presented certificates to 14 women who had completed a Mission-supported course on employment skills and economic empowerment in Budva municipality.
The course in Budva is among twenty such training activities on economic empowerment conducted in seven Montenegrin municipalities over the last four years.
The participants, unemployed women from Budva municipality, were identified in co-operation with National Bureau for Employment Office in Budva and the municipal authorities. They learnt about organizational skills, CV-writing tips, how to search for business opportunities and effective job interview skills. The National Bureau for Employment recognizes the training as formal education.
”Women need support in achieving their full economic potential through the organization of these kind of programmes, but also there is a need to educate institutions about their obligations in this area,” said Waldemar Figaj, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, as he presented the certificates. “It is necessary to provide further support in eliminating barriers for unequal access to possibilities, financial support and loans for small business.”
Deputy Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Blanka Radosevic Marovic noted her Ministry has been continuously co-operating with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro for several years on programmes dedicated to gender equality issues. “Despite the very significant activities and results, it is necessary to put additional efforts for the improvement of women’s role at the local level.”
President of the Municipality of Budva, Lazar Radjenovic, also presented certificates to participants at the ceremony.
