Photo story: Promoting women’s participation in local elections

  • Ahead of the 2011 local elections, the OSCE Mission to Moldova, in co-operation with the International Center for the Advancement of Women in Business, an NGO, conducted a series of training seminars on running for public office for 150 women from all over Moldova. The number of female mayors or deputy mayors of municipalities, towns and villages after the 2007 elections was 163 out of 898, or 18.2%. In 2008 the number decreased to 157, or 17.5%.
