Sixth train leaves Tiraspol bound for Russia with military materials
CHISINAU 8 November 2002
CHISINAU, 8 November 2002 - The Operational Group of Russian Forces in Transdniestria removed another trainload of various military materials on 6 November from the Transdniestrian region of Moldova for Russia.
The train consisted of 42 cars loaded with army vehicles, engineering equipment and spare parts as well as construction materials. The train did not have any ammunition on board. The OSCE Mission to Moldova verified the loading and the contents of the transport.
Unlike the previous two trains which left the Kolbasna military base in October 2002 loaded with ammunition, this one was formed in Tiraspol.
The OSCE Mission to Moldova is encouraged by the removal of military material, and is hopeful that it will be followed by further ammunition withdrawal from Kolbasna. These removal processes are part of the Russian Federation's Istanbul Summit (1999) commitment of full withdrawal from Moldova by the end of 2002.
