2008 Report of the Anti-Trafficking and Gender Programme
Through its activities in 2008, the OSCE Mission to Moldova’s Anti-Trafficking and Gender Programme contributed to the implementation of the OSCE Mission to Moldova’s mandate and to the implementation of the OSCE Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings, the OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality, and the OSCE Decision on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women. The programme supported co-ordination of efforts, including by the Government of Moldova, to combat trafficking in human beings and domestic violence, assist victims, and ensure access to fundamental human rights for the most vulnerable on both banks of the Nistru/Dniester River.
The programme's objectives and activities in 2009 will build upon earlier achievements and will contribute to the observance of human rights and the establishment of a safe and secure environment for vulnerable people in Moldova. The programme will continue to balance responsiveness to local needs and changing conditions with continuity, expertise and good practices in the fields of countering trafficking in human beings and gender equality.
