Journalism students learn about work of independent media outlets during OSCE Mission to Moldova-supported study visit

The OSCE Mission to Moldova and the Chisinau-based NGO Independent Journalism Center organized a two-day study visit from 26 to 28 October to Romania for 15 students from the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism (CSAJ). The student group visited independent media outlets in Bucharest and gained practical knowledge of how they function.
 
During the study trip, students visited eight print, online and audio-visual media outlets.  They had the opportunity to talk to media managers and journalists and learn about their day-to-day work and the importance of maintaining objectivity and professionalism in the media. The students welcomed the practical advice for their future chosen profession of journalism.   
 
“This visit was a great experience during which I learned how an editorial team operates,” said CSAJ student Liliana Botnariuc. “Every media institution representative that I met underscored for me the importance of developing all the skills of being a journalist – to write, to record, to take pictures and to produce good material, while never compromising on my professional integrity on reporting the news objectively.”
 
The study visit is part of the OSCE Mission to Moldova’s project to strengthen the professionalism of media by building the capacity of the next generation of journalists. The Mission is implementing this project in partnership with the Independent Journalism Center which runs the CSAJ. The CSAJ aims at developing an independent professional media in Moldova and fostering relations between journalists from different regions.
