OSCE Mission to Moldova supports theatre play to raise awareness of trafficking in human beings
Fifteen high school students from Durlesti performed a social theatre play about human trafficking and exploitation in connection with migration, supported by the OSCE Mission to Moldova, on 18 October 2016 in Chisinau.
More than 60 students and teachers from five universities and colleges in Chisinau were in attendance. The play illustrated different stories and cases of human trafficking and exploitation, and the powerful impact this crime has on the victims. It was followed by a discussion with the audience to identify prevention strategies to human trafficking.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of the EU Anti-Trafficking Day. On this occasion we are glad to organize a special event involving innovative and interactive tools to sensitize the young generation to the dangers of human trafficking,” said Laurentia Filipschi, anti-trafficking expert and facilitator of the social theatre performance.
The event was organized as part of the annual “Anti-Trafficking Week” campaign which is co-ordinated by Moldova’s Permanent Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
