OSCE-supports investigative journalism workshop for students of Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism
From 6 to 8 December 2014, students and alumni from the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism (CSAJ) took part in an intensive workshop on investigative and data journalism. The workshop was co-organized by the OSCE Mission to Moldova and the Independent Journalism Centre.
“Proper training in investigative journalism is key to become a good journalist,” said Paula Redondo, Spokesperson of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. “One of our main objectives is to improve the level of professionalism of Moldovan media, and that is why we focus on future journalists.”
During the three-day event, participants received training from local and international trainers. The students also had the chance to learn directly from Paul Radu, Director of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and RISE Project Romania, who shared his extensive investigative experience with the students.
This event is part of a project to enhance the professionalism of media in Moldova by supporting the CSAJ and training students in different disciplines relevant to their future work as journalists. The project aims to contribute to establishing a strong independent media in Moldova.
Between 2007 and 2013, the OSCE Mission to Moldova offered scholarships to journalism students from Gagauzia and Transdniestria to study at the Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism. The School is run by the Independent Journalism Centre, in order to help the development of independent professional media in Moldova and enhance relations between journalists from different regions.
