Mission to Montenegro supports regional capacity building training for Regional Youth Co-operation Office beneficiaries
The OSCE-supported regional capacity building training for the Regional Youth Co-operation Office (RYCO) beneficiaries to be supported within the second RYCO Open Call for Project Proposals, is taking place in Podgorica from 12 to 16 September 2019.
The five-day event gathers representatives of 45 civil society organizations and secondary schools from the Western Balkans which will be working on bringing the youth of the region closer together.
The Minister of Sports and Youth Nikola Janović said that the Regional Office is the most visible product of the Berlin Process. “In addition to having a very strong co-operation since its inception, I would like to recall that Montenegro is the first signatory to the Declaration that fulfilled all the conditions for the functioning of the Youth Co-operation Office. NGOs and the education sector we see as strong partners in this project,” said Minister Janović.
Opening the training course, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Maryse Daviet, said that the Mission is proud to have been one of the first institutional supporters of RYCO. “We recognize the importance of youth engagement and connectivity in the region, as a key factor to peace and stability. We are here today to support the newly awarded RYCO grantees. Your projects are at the core of RYCO – the reason why we at the OSCE are so happy to be part of and support this process,” said Daviet.
The training’s overall objective is to support participants through experiential learning to reflect and adapt project activities to reach maximum impact of RYCO youth exchanges. Furthermore, the event will focus on deepening the understanding of the Western Balkans context and RYCO key concepts for a better region, and their relation with RYCO Youth Exchanges.
RYCO was founded in 2016 at the Western Balkans Sixth Summit in Paris as an independent institutional mechanism to promote the spirit of reconciliation and co-operation among youth in the region through exchange programmes.
