The first national simulation exercise on combating trafficking in human beings
25 November 2023
This five-day training brought together for the first time all of Moldova’s anti-trafficking community (government and civil society) to identify, investigate and prosecute human trafficking cases.
Law enforcement identified traffickers engaged in sexual or labour exploitation. They moved victims to shelters and social workers who could care for the victims. Prosecutors prepared judicial cases against traffickers; magistrates identified which cases were strong and which lacked elements that would send traffickers to prison. Actors played victims and traffickers. Participants prioritized their work load, coordinated with each other, and worked through obstacles and reached success. They effectively worked in multi-disciplinary teams in the best interest of the victims.
