Protecting Janjevё/Janjevo and its diverse communities
Safety is a collective effort, and it is therefore essential for each one of us to look out for one another. With this idea in mind and to help increase safety for all communities in Janjevё/Janjevo, a picturesque village home to Kosovo Croats, Albanians, Turks, and Roma, the OSCE Mission donated CCTV equipment to the municipality of Lipjan/Lipljan and local police station.
In an initiative supported by the Croatian Embassy, the CCTV cameras were installed following a number of home burglaries and thefts reported in recent years. They will help local institutions, including the police station in Janjevё/Janjevo which will monitor them, to address security concerns of residents, and will benefit members of all communities living there.
“Everybody who knows Janjevë/Janjevo knows the rich history and diversity that you have here. It is encouraging to see community, municipal and religious leaders, working together with the Police and Local Public Safety Committee members to resolve security issues, make Janjevë/Janjevo a safer place, a safer place for families across the age range, from young children to elderly residents,” said Ambassador Michael Davenport, Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.
