OSCE Mission encourages professional journalism and reporting standards through annual awards for best journalists in Kosovo

On 12 December 2023, the OSCE Mission supported the Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) in organizing the Annual Journalism Awards. On behalf of the Mission, Ambassador Michael Davenport presented the 2023 Journalist of the Year award to “Betimi për Drejtësi” journalist Alberta Hashani for her series of investigations titled “Frauds in the Name of Lawyers,” and to Nacionale journalist Vullnet Krasniqi for his story “VISAMETRIC Scandal”.

Also, on 14 December 2023, the Mission supported Association of Journalists of Serbia registered in Kosovo (AJSK) to organize the Annual Journalism Awards. Ambassador Davenport presented the Best Radio Story award to Ivan Miljković, a journalist of the Gračanica/Graçanicë-based news portal Riznica, for his radio story titled “When a word jumps out from the heart.”

The awards ceremonies serve as a platform to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to journalism, reinforcing the importance of a free and responsible media.
