Increasing security for schoolchildren in Kosovo
26 March 2019
Members of Local Public Safety Committees (LPSC) have identified violence in schools as a persistent problem and proposed installation of surveillance cameras to decrease violence and provide a safer environment for pupils. To improve security in and around schools, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo funded the installation of indoor and outdoor cameras in over 25 primary schools throughout Kosovo.
Most recently, the OSCE Mission helped the LPSC in Osojane/Osojan, which is responsible for six Kosovo Albanian and Kosovo Serb villages in western Kosovo, to install 13 surveillance cameras in the primary school Ndre Mjeda in Rakosh/Rakoš, a village in the municipality of Istog/Istok.
