Hostages seen alive and well in Kosovo

PRISTINA, 10 January 1999 - The OSCE KVM mediators in the negotiations to release the 8 VJ soldiers confirm that they visited the prisoners at about 3.15 pm on Saturday 9 January and also on the 10th. The mediators report that all the detainees were in good health and were being well treated.

Photographs were taken during the visit and the detainees wrote letters to their families. The letters and photographs will be passed to their families.

The OSCE KVM mediators have continued their mediation efforts throughout the night.
