The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is running a series of five regional roundtables to promote the role and the legal framework governing the work of the Independent Oversight Board for the Civil Service of Kosovo.
The Board is a quasi-judicial body charged with adjudicating complaints on hiring, firing and promotion practices within the civil service in Kosovo. Though its decisions are final and legally binding only 60 percent get implemented by the governmental institutions.
The aim of the roundtables is to help increase the level of the Board’s decisions implementation at the municipal level.
The roundtables will be attended by municipal chief personnel officers, municipal and district courts judges, and Ombudsperson institution and civil society representatives.
The initial roundtable for Prishtinë/Priština region municipalities was organized on 28 September. The remaining four roundtables will take place in:
- Mitrovicë/Mitrovica on 17 October;
- Pejë/Pec on 2 November;
- Prizren on 9 November; and
- Gjilan/Gnjilane on 23 November.
