OSCE Mission in Kosovo announces results of political party ballot lottery
PRISTINA 13 August 2002
PRISTINA, 13 August 2002 - The OSCE Mission in Kosovo has held a lottery to determine the order in which political parties will appear on ballot papers in the province's second municipal elections, scheduled for 26 October.
"Applying for elections is hard work but now we have reached the last phase of preparations", said Ambassador Pascal Fieschi, the OSCE Mission Head, in an address to the representatives of Kosovo's political entities present at the lottery ceremony.
"All political entities running in the municipal elections are now on the ballot, demonstrating their wish to participate. Soon the election campaign period will begin and I remind political entities and their supporters to abide by the Central Election Commission's Code of Conduct to ensure well-run and peaceful campaigns".
In the lottery, representatives of the 68 political entities certified for the fall elections - 28 political parties, one coalition, 28 citizens' initiatives and 11 independent candidates - randomly selected numbers which will appear next to their entity on the ballots in each of Kosovo's 30 municipalities.
