Unofficial results from Kosovo municipal elections now available on OSCE website
PRISTINA 30 October 2000
PRISTINA, 30 October 2000 - The OSCE Mission in Kosovo has released the first, unofficial polling station results for the municipal elections held on 28 October. These results, available on the OSCE Mission in Kosovo website at //www.osce.org/kosovo/elections, constitute approximately 80 per cent of the regular ballots counted.
Ballots cast by absentee and out-of-Kosovo voters as well as votes of Kosovars participating in the Mission's Special Needs Voting Programme are still being counted. At the same time, specialized OSCE teams scrutinize the conditional ballots cast on election day to ensure the legitimacy of these votes.
These first results will continue to be updated throughout the week. Preliminary results, encompassing also conditional, absentee and out-of-Kosovo votes, are expected about five to seven days following the elections, and final certified results and the allocation of seats will not be available until about 12 days following election day.
