OSCE Kosovo Mission Head hopes for positive developments in 2007

PRISTINA, 29 December 2006 - The OSCE Head of Mission, Ambassador Werner Wnendt, said today he wishes all Kosovo's people a happy and healthy 2007 and congratulated Kosovo's Muslims on the occasion of Kurban Bajram.

"My hope for 2007 is that Kosovo will see more improvement when it comes to developing stable democratic institutions, more progress in the protection of human rights and more economic development that help to create jobs for the people of Kosovo," Ambassador Wnendt said.

"Kurban Bajram and its spirit of generosity, tolerance and charity give me the confidence that international organizations, our partners in the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government and the people of Kosovo together will overcome the challenges ahead, and will make Kosovo a secure and proper home for all of its people.

"The OSCE Mission plans to continue activities in Kosovo in support of human rights and democratization objectives."
