The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security in the OSCE Area seeks to empower young professionals, in particular women, to engage in the security sector, especially the politico-military security field. The course emphasizes preventive responses to crises and conflicts as well as strengthening mediation support and post-conflict rehabilitation efforts; through arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation; towards confidence- and security-building in the OSCE area.
Applications for the 2024 edition of the OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security training programme on conflict prevention and resolution were open from 5 to 22 March 2024.

Course topics include:
- Arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation frameworks with a focus on politico-military tools in the OSCE area;
- Regional Confidence- and Security-Building Measures;
- Control of firearms, ammunition and mines;
- Instruments on non-proliferation of conventional as well as weapons of mass destruction;
- Impact of new technologies on peace and disarmament processes;
- Means of modern warfare;
- Preventing and countering terrorism;
- Impact of conflict and post-conflict rehabilitation processes;
- Other cross-cutting issues related to the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security

Eligibility Criteria:
➡️ You are a young professional aged between 22-32 (at the time of application)
➡️ You hold at least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
➡️ You are a national of one of the OSCE participating States or Partners for Co-operation.
Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Fraud Alert: Beware of Fake OSCE Scholarship Scam
It has come to our attention that individuals are receiving fraudulent emails regarding a purported "2024 OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security Training Programme on Conflict Prevention and Resolution." These emails falsely claim to be from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and may request payment for various reasons, such as late application submission or processing fees.
Please be advised that the OSCE does not charge any fees for participation in its scholarship programs or training courses. Any request for payment in exchange for participation in such programs is fraudulent and should be treated with extreme caution.
If you receive such an email, do not respond to it or provide any personal or financial information. Instead, please report it to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
The OSCE is committed to promoting peace, security, and cooperation, and we take the security and well-being of individuals seriously. We urge the public to remain vigilant and to exercise caution when encountering suspicious solicitations or requests for payment.
Online component of 2024 programme concludes
The online course of the 2024 OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security training programme for young professionals (88% women) concluded in July with 135 graduates.
The in-person training in Vienna is envisaged to take place from 9 to 13 December 2024.
