The OSCE Scholarship for Peace and Security offers a training course for young professionals, in particular women, providing a general orientation and knowledge about conflict prevention and resolution through arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, with a specific focus on OSCE-relevant instruments.
The training course consists of two components: an online course starting on 8 April 2019 and an in-person course from 6 to 10 May 2019, which will be held in Vienna, Austria.
The training will contribute to creating equal opportunities for young professionals, in particular as concerns women’s participation in policymaking, planning and implementation processes in the area of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation.A total of 100 scholarships are available to facilitate participation of young professionals from OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation. Participation to the in-person training is reserved for women.
In 2019, 80 graduates (91,25% women) from 39 OSCE pS and 8 Partners for Co-operation finished the programme successfully.

The OSCE-UNODA Scholarship for Peace and Security received the OSCE SG’s Gender Champion Award in March 2019 in recognition of the training’s focus on gender equality as a key element in conflict prevention and comprehensive security. In particular, the programme was recognized as an outstanding initiative that helped to strengthen the participation of young women in the security sector.
