The roundtable will aim at achieving a better understanding of the dynamics involved in the terrorist radicalization of women. Participants will reflect on whether and how existing measures to counter violent extremism and terrorist radicalization should be corrected and tailored to make them gender sensitive and human rights compliant.
It will gather leading experts from academia, civil society and the media from across the OSCE region as well as representatives from the OSCE participating States to identify the factors conducive to the terrorist radicalization of women and explore ways to develop effective preventive measures in line with human rights standards and OSCE commitments.
A follow-up expert roundtable, focusing on the role and empowerment of women in countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism, will take place in early 2012.
