The Second Preparatory Meeting of the 26th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum dedicated to “Promoting economic progress and security in the OSCE area through innovation, human capital development, and good public and corporate governance” will take place in Venice on 24-25 May 2018 and will focus on the following:
- Investment policies and promotion of favourable business climate to accelerate economic growth in the digital area;
- Human capital development as an essential factor for economic security, growth, development and competitiveness;
- Building knowledge, skills and competences in the digital era;
- Promoting security through social equity; and
- Strengthening good public and corporate governance through transparency and accountability.
The 26th Economic and Environmental Forum is organized by the 2018 Italian OSCE Chairmanship in co-operation with the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA).
The Economic and Environmental Forum is the main meeting-cycle within the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE. Its objectives are to identify needs and priorities, to raise awareness and to stimulate the political will of the 57 OSCE participating States in dealing with economic, environmental and security related challenges, to share best practices, as well as to provide a platform for dialogue with representatives of International Organizations, the business and academic communities, and civil society.
In 2018, the First Preparatory Meeting took place in Vienna/Austria on 22-23 January 2018. The Concluding Meeting is foreseen in Prague/Czech Republic on 5-7 September 2018.
