Launch of publication on trafficking for the purpose of domestic servitude

On 28 February 2011, the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Maria Grazia Giammarinaro, will launch the fourth in a series of Occasional Papers focusing on trafficking for labour exploitation.
The paper, Unprotected Work, Invisible Exploitation: Trafficking for the Purpose of Domestic Servitude, is based on desk research, field work and case study analyses in order to shed light on one of the most invisible forms of modern-day slavery, and provides a policy tool for decision makers and practitioners dealing with trafficking in human beings in terms of prevention, prosecution and protection of trafficked persons’ rights, including assistance and support.
Two guest speakers will join the Special Representative and her Office to address the issue of trafficking for the purpose of domestic servitude:
- Dr. Nivedita Prasad, German NGO BAN-YING – Gender and ethnic origin as aspects of trafficking for domestic servitude
- Ms. Evelyn Probst, Austrian NGO LEFÖ – Trafficking for domestic servitude: NGO response
