Press release, 11 September 2007: OSCE plays key role in fight against human trafficking, top official says
The 7th Alliance Against Trafficking in Persons Conference on Assistance to Trafficked Persons: We Can Do Better, takes place at the Hofburg Conference Centre in Vienna, Austria, on 10 and 11 September 2007. It will adopt a victim-centred approach in analysing the assistance packages offered to trafficked persons within the OSCE participating States.
For this event, the Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings is bringing together high-level officials and a group of experts in the field of assistance and protection who will provide a unique insiders' perspective based on the latest qualitative and quantitative research.
The conference will focus on new proposals to address victims' needs, the reasons why they reject assistance and protection, and ways to improve the situation. Proper assistance and protection is crucial in persuading victims to co-operate more fully with law enforcement agencies.
