Experts discuss security community, partnerships for change at OSCE Talks Vilnius seminar
Leading researchers, students and OSCE representatives met at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University on 5 April 2011 to discuss Euro-Atlantic security and multi-track diplomacy.
Looking at current events in Belarus and North Africa, participants discussed the role of the international community, civil society, women and the media in supporting democratic change and transition.
The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, and OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut spoke at the opening session. Former Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus gave the keynote address at a special lunch session.
The event, “Building bridges: security community and partnerships for change”, was the second in the OSCE Talks series, which brings together students and researchers to discuss topics related to the OSCE. A publication including articles based on the presentations will be released in May.
The event was supported by Lithuania’s OSCE Chairmanship and Liechtenstein.
