OSCE condemns assassination attempt on Turkish human rights activist

WARSAW, 14 May 1998 - The Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, expresses his great concern about the assassination attempt against Akin Birdal, the Chairman of the Turkish Human Rights Association.
Mr. Geremek hopes for Mr. Birdal's speedy and full recovery.
Mr. Geremek also expresses his satisfaction that the Turkish Government at its highest levels has condemned the attack and promised to do its utmost to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.
