Two OSCE Mission members wounded in Kosovo
PRISTINA 16 January 1999
PRISTINA, 16 January 1999 - Ambassador William Walker, Head of the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission said:
"Yesterday afternoon, near the village of Pozar, in the Decani region, two of my mission members were wounded when their vehicles came under small arms fire. Thankfully their injuries were not life threatening.
This incident causes me great concern. Any violence directed at my mission members is unacceptable. I will take all possible steps to establish the full circumstances and responsibility for this attack. It is our considered opinion that this was an intentional attack on the KVM vehicle.
I take this opportunity to remind all sides of the necessity to positively support the peace accord and to adhere to UN Security Council Resolutions. All sides must maintain the ceasefire and encourage a positive environment in which to conduct the search for a lasting political solution to the current situation in Kosovo".
