The conference will focus on the following key topics: a) good governance and anti-corruption; b) energy security as well as co-operation to address challenges caused by climate change; and c) connectivity through transport and trade facilitation. All of them are central to the mandate of the OSCE in the Economic and Environmental Dimension and constitute priorities of the Chairpersonship in the Organization’s second dimension.
This event will provide a platform for representatives from the 57 participating States, the private sector, academia, civil society and international organizations to engage in meaningful discussions about these important issues, which are increasingly relevant to comprehensive, co-operative, equal and indivisible security in the OSCE region.
OSCE participating States are strongly encouraged to use this event as an opportunity to continue the longstanding political dialogue on economic and environmental issues linked to security that has traditionally taken place within the framework of the Economic and Environmental Forum cycle.
The Struga conference will provide an opportunity to look into how the OSCE can support these efforts in the following key policy areas:
- Strengthening good governance through increased transparency, accountability and anti-corruption measures
- Strengthening co-operation to address challenges caused by climate change, which may negatively affect stability and security in the OSCE area
- Promoting energy security and resilience of critical energy infrastructure
- Promoting resilience and co-operation through connectivity, trade and transport facilitation
