OSCE Centre in Bishkek supports interactive teaching course for Kyrgyz Police Academy
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, 13 September 2010 - Twenty-five lecturers from the Kyrgyz Police Academy are taking part in an OSCE-funded training course on interactive teaching methodology and use of innovation technologies in the educational process that started in Bishkek today.
The three-day course will be conducted by Elena Pronina, head of the Department for the Introduction of Innovative Technologies into Educational and Methodical Work at the University of St. Petersburg. The course, organized as part of the Training Centre for Professional Development of the Kyrgyz Police Academy, will cover such issues as integration into the Bologna process, interactive training methods, improving the organization of educational processes and use of electronic administration at police educational institutions.
"Well-trained police officers unquestionably deliver a better service to the public. This course represents part of the OSCE's ongoing support to the Kyrgyz Police Academy to strengthen and modernize the training of police officers, drawing on international best practices with an emphasis on practical and interactive teaching methods," said Ambassador Andrew Tesoriere, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
On 16-18 September, Elena Pronina will also take part in an OSCE-supported discussion at the Police Academy on development of a practical approach in police education. She will also provide advisory support to the Police Academy's management to revise the curriculum and planning documentation of the Police Academy, as well as its teaching and methodical materials.
"This training organized in collaboration with the OSCE aims to support the professional development of lecturers of the Kyrgyz Police Academy and the use of innovative forms and methods to improve the quality of police higher education," said the Deputy Head of the Police Academy, Aslan Kulbaev.
The activities were organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek jointly with the Kyrgyz Police Academy as part of the OSCE Police Reform Programme.
