OSCE donates professional audio and video equipment to the Information Department of the Kyrgyz Prime Minister’s Office

BISHKEK, 30 April 2015 – The OSCE Centre in Bishkek today donated professional audio and video equipment to the Information Department the Office of Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of its project to support reforms of the government press office. During the donation ceremony, a handover agreement was signed between parties.
“We hope that this equipment will improve the capacity of the government press service to effectively provide journalists with timely access to government information and inform the public about governmental activities,” said Maciej Dachowski, Head of Politic-Military Department of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek. “It ensures the transparency of government and improves the level of trust between the government and the general public. Enhancing the capacities of government communication can also play an important role in conflict prevention, and we will continue assisting the Government in its efforts to meet its OSCE commitments.”
Seventeen items were donated in total, including professional video and photo cameras, notebooks, a colour printer and a modem.
The Government press service support project was launched in 2013 and last year a new legal framework for the work of press service was developed. The OSCE will continue providing expertize to the Government this year in strengthening its policies related to information security and the freedom of information.
